Embarking on a journey to prevent dental problems before they start
The Foundation of a Healthy Smile
Routine dental exams and cleanings are essential for maintaining your child’s oral health and preventing future dental problems. These visits allow us to monitor tooth development, catch issues early, and keep your child’s smile bright and healthy. Starting early with consistent check-ups sets the stage for a lifetime of good dental habits.
What to Expect During an Exam
During a routine dental exam, our pediatric dentist will gently examine your child’s teeth, gums, and mouth to check for cavities, plaque buildup, or other concerns. We’ll also assess your child’s bite, jaw development, and overall oral health. X-rays may be taken periodically to spot issues not visible to the naked eye, ensuring we stay ahead of potential problems.
The Importance of Professional Cleanings
Even with great brushing and flossing habits at home, professional cleanings are a must. Our hygienists use special tools to remove plaque and tartar that can lead to cavities and gum disease. Cleanings also include gentle polishing and fluoride treatments, which strengthen enamel and protect against decay.
Building Positive Dental Experiences
We strive to make every visit comfortable, fun, and educational for your child. Our kid-friendly approach helps reduce dental anxiety and builds confidence in taking care of their teeth. By making dental exams and cleanings a positive experience, we empower children to take pride in their oral health.
🦷 What to Expect During the Visit

1. Gentle Cleaning
We start by giving the teeth a thorough but gentle cleaning.
Our dental team carefully removes any plaque or food particles from the surface of your child’s molars. This helps ensure the cavity blocker adheres properly and lasts longer. It’s quick and comfortable—many kids even say it tickles!
2. Drying & Prepping the Tooth
Next, we dry the tooth and prepare it for the cavity blocker.
Once clean, we gently dry the tooth and may use a mild solution to help the sealant bond securely. Your child will relax in the chair while we get everything ready—no discomfort or drills involved!
3. Applying the Cavity Blocker (Sealant)
Here comes the protective shield!
We carefully “paint” a thin layer of the cavity blocker (also known as a dental sealant) onto the chewing surface of each molar. It only takes a few seconds per tooth and is completely painless. Your child can sit back and relax while we apply the shield.
4. Setting the Sealant
A special light helps it stick.
We use a cool blue curing light to harden the cavity blocker in place. This step only takes a few seconds and ensures the protective layer stays strong and secure, ready to defend against sugar bugs and sticky snacks.
5. All Done—Back to Smiling!
That’s it! No downtime, no restrictions.
Once the sealants are set, your child can go back to their day like normal—no waiting, no recovery. We’ll give them a high-five and some tips for keeping their smile strong until their next visit.

Dr. Hardy and his team are great! They’re good with the kids, explain things clearly, and are always punctual. Clean office with up-to-date equipment. Fun waiting room with iPads and slide. Highly recommend.
Their office is decorated so cute and inviting for kids. Very patient and they are awesome with kids. Took my 3 year old and 5 year old and they loved going to the dentist 🙂 When we walked in they were excited and said, “we remember this place!”. So happy my kids are excited to visit the dentist!
